Boiler Pressure Too High? Emergency Help
High boiler pressure can cause the pressure relief valve to discharge water and may damage system components if left unaddressed.
Causes of High Pressure
High pressure often results from a faulty filling loop that is letting in too much water, a failed expansion vessel that cannot absorb expansion, or a blocked expansion pipe. The filling loop should be closed and capped when not in use.
Risks of Over-Pressurization
Excessive pressure can stress boiler components, cause leaks at connections, force the pressure relief valve to open (releasing hot water), and potentially damage the heat exchanger.
Professional Pressure Correction
Our technicians will identify why the boiler is gaining pressure, correct the underlying issue, and restore normal system pressure. Do not repeatedly open the pressure relief valve yourself to lower pressure.
Safety Reminder
If you smell gas, suspect carbon monoxide or believe there is an immediate danger, leave the property and contact emergency services or the appropriate gas emergency authority. Do not remain inside — exit the building immediately and call for help from outside.
